Enabling Secure Remote Work for Accounting Firm

Helping a traditional accounting firm transition to a secure remote work environment without compromising client data security or team productivity.

The Challenge

When the pandemic hit, Anderson Accounting had no remote work capability. Their accounting software ran on local servers, files were stored on office computers, and staff had no way to access client data from home. The firm needed to enable remote work quickly while maintaining strict data security requirements for their clients' sensitive financial information.

Our Solution

We implemented a comprehensive remote work solution including secure VPN access to office resources, cloud backup with encryption for all client data, multi-factor authentication for all remote access, new laptops configured with security software for each staff member, and a 3CX phone system allowing staff to make and receive business calls from home. We also established security policies and provided training to ensure compliance with accounting industry data protection requirements.

Implementation

Given the urgency, we completed the initial setup in just one week. VPN and security infrastructure were configured first, followed by laptop deployment and staff training. Phone system migration happened over a weekend. We conducted follow-up training sessions to ensure everyone was comfortable with the new systems and security procedures.
